Pool table felt is glued and stretched directly onto the slate surface. Tilt the table at the wrong angle, snag the cloth with a tool, or staple carelessly during reassembly—and the playing surface is ruined. The right way is to remove the felt completely before the slate is ever touched.
A pool table that is even 1/16 of an inch off-level plays differently on every shot. After transport, slate panels must be shimmed and leveled individually before the felt goes back on. That leveling step is not optional — it is part of every job we complete.
Our Pool Table Moving Process Protects Every Layer
Every job follows the same sequence from start to finish. That consistency is why the table arrives in the same condition it left in.
Step 1 — Disassembly and Felt Removal
The crew removes pockets, rails, and ball return hardware first. The felt is carefully lifted—staples pulled clean—and set aside, rolled or flat, depending on its condition. Slate panels are unbolted and padded individually before any lifting begins, so nothing moves until everything is secured.
Step 2 — Padded Transport and Safe Loading
Each slate panel travels flat in the truck, padded on all faces and secured against movement — no exceptions. The frame and rail components are wrapped and loaded separately so nothing contacts the slate during transit.
Step 3 — Reassembly, Felt Re-lay, and Final Level
At the destination, the frame is set, and slate panels are placed and shimmed until the table reads level across both axes. The felt is stretched and re-secured before rails and hardware go back on. When the crew leaves, the table is ready to play.
